Nadine Schelbert is a Los Angeles–based artist whose sculptures and installations explore how impersonal structures begin to feel bodily. Working with the components of clinical, institutional, and infrastructural environments, such as strut channels, acoustic tile, threaded rod, and industrial foam, she displaces and recombines materials into charged situations where the body is suggested without being depicted. Her work attends to misrecognition, vulnerability, absence, and the strange intimacy ordinary structures can hold. She studied at ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, and completed her MFA in ceramics at CalState Long Beach.
