FAQ’s

Q: Is this event free?

A: Yes, this is a free event. However, we appreciate donations to help us cover remaining costs associated with organizing this event. CLICK HERE to support Now Be Here

Q: Where can I park?

A: Parking is free. Parking will be available in the College’s two main parking lots (Occidental College Visitor page – please scroll down to the bottom for Directions & Parking info), and additional free parking can be found on the neighborhood streets surrounding the College. 

Q: I have accessibility needs, who should I speak with and can I see a map?

A: Let us know your accessibility needs. If you or someone you know requires language interpretation, ASL interpretation, or have any other access needs or questions, please contact communications@nowbehereart.com at least one week in advance of the event and we will do our best to provide accommodations.

Q: Is this event only open to women and non-binary artists?

A: The photograph is open exclusively to women and non-binary artists (9-11am). The Now Let’s Talk, Los Angeles programming is open to Los Angeles artists of all gender expressions (11 am- 3 pm).

We invite you to please pay attention to the descriptions of each session’s intended audience and be mindful of the spaces you are entering and contributing to. We are excited to welcome you!

Q: Will there be food/water available?

A: There will be light breakfast fare and refreshments during the AM reception. The College’s dining hall will be open for the purchase of lunch. Water bottle refill stations are available around campus. We encourage you to bring a refillable water bottle. The campus also has many picnicking spots – please feel free to bring your own food and enjoy the day!

Q: Is there an age limitation?

A: Working artists of all ages are welcome to join.

Q: How will the photograph work?

A: We ask that you RSVP for the photograph and join the free Now Be Here directory (please select YES for the question: “Are You Planning On Attending The 2026 Los Angeles Anniversary?”).

Following the event, the Now Be Here website will have a page which will include the photograph and a list of all photograph participants. For those who join the directory, the page will also link to your directory entry so the public can see your work and connect with you via the link you provide. 

Q: What is a Community Conversation?

A: These are small group conversations (~20 participants) centered around a specific topic (see session descriptions). There is no formal RSVP for these, and seating is first come first served. Conversations will include facilitators from the partner organizations to guide the session and a notetaker. The conversations will not be recorded. Session notes will be shared after the event. 

Please see session descriptions for topic specific information, as well as facilitating partner organizations.

Most Community Conversations will take place on the Main Quad, with a few in other locations indicated on the Map.

A few of the sessions include somatic and/or writing components. If you are concerned about session accessibility, please reach out communications@nowbehereart.com at least one week in advance of the event.

Q: I wasn’t in the first photo, can I participate in this new one?

A: Yes, please! The more the merrier.

Q: Will there be networking?

Yes! Coalition representatives and sponsors will be there to connect with you directly, as well as artists and arts workers from the Los Angeles art community.
