Beth Livensperger’s recent ink drawings on paper depict scenarios in which women navigate the psychologically charged yet banal space of office interiors. After long work experience surrounded by female mentors, competitors, friends, and advocates, she began thinking about the complex dynamics and history of women in white-collar jobs and how much – yet sometimes how little – has changed. This work reflects the difficulties and possibilities inherent in our relationship to structures of power, acknowledging an ongoing struggle while celebrating perseverance, ingenuity, and ambition.
