I started as a figurative painter in 1983. My work moved into abstraction and later into mixed media using traditional Brazilian and Lebanese heirloom textiles. Color transparencies entered my process integrating sunlight into my work, providing a forum for the public to interact with the cast color shadows. In 2020, I was one of the six female immigrant artists selected as an AnkhLave Arts Alliance Fellow, receiving a Queens Council of Arts grant. My participatory art offered an immersive and almost tactile experience, engaging the community and sparking environmental awareness. I am currently the resident curator of this project.
