Christine Rasmussen

As a painter I investigate the in-between, exploring themes of emptiness, aloneness and boundaries to find connection and belonging. The urban spaces I depict are familiar yet unremarkable. Recording these scenes and highlighting small details in paint evokes beauty and a sense of wonder in the everyday. My interest in observation of the present moment stems from being raised as a global nomad in Pakistan, Vietnam and the US, as well as the confluence of my double major at UC Berkeley in Art Practice and Peace & Conflict Studies.
