Debra Disman

Debra Disman is a Los-Angeles-based artist working in artists’ books, textiles, installation and performance both as a solo practitioner and in the public sphere of community engagement. As a maker, teaching artist, researcher and writer she investigates states of being and connectiveness through intensive interactions with materials while attempting to fully explore and exploit their haptic properties. Employing the tactility of fiber, she aims to both soothe and confound the eye with uneven visual repetition, and through this means of stabilizing and destabilizing to encourage a deeper exploration of what we think we know and are.
