Ellen Hackl Fagan builds connections between color and sound using installations, interactive games, and collaborative projects that combine color-saturated paintings with music and digital technologies. Each installation invites viewers an opportunity to explore synaesthesia for themselves. In her ongoing query into how a synaesthetic grammar between color and sound can be built through crowd-sourcing, Fagan’s digital project, The Reverse Color Organ (RCO), has been designed as an interactive website that can be uploaded and saved to a smart phone. The RCO enables the viewer to become the co-creator of this developing Color Sound Grammar.
