Fiona Aboud

My work is both formally innovative and socially engaged, expanding the syntax of photographic art as a means of fostering new and powerful varieties of empathy and acceptance in a period of fragmentation and unease. I make abstract pieces and portrait photography, as well as through a range of other visual and performance-based practices, including a unique process of projecting photographic images onto water. I create surrealistic worlds that help us envision more nurturing relationships with others and with ourselves.
