Gail Shaw-Clemons, born in Washington, DC. With an MFA in printmaking from the University of Maryland, she studied under Thaddeus Lipinski, Dr. David Driskell, and Martin Puryear. She has exhibited extensively, and her work is represented in the USA, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, China and Ireland. My image was a graphite drawing that I turned into a lithograph. After applying many layers of gel medium to the print I soaked and removed the paper, leaving just an embedded image in clear plastic. By overlapping different mask transparencies I was able to create a mysterious effect, reminiscent of the ancestors deep within.
