Holly Tempo

MFA, Painting, Claremont Graduate University. I am known for my paintings and site-specific works. With an active professional career that spans over 30 years, I have shown at a variety of venues internationally. Recipient of Pollock-Krasner and City of LA COLA Fellowships. I engage with dysfunctional spaces in society and use the language of abstraction to process my experience. I conflate cultural and geographical history, psychological trauma, and social anger. Using decorative motifs that allude to an area’s past and tropes from the urban environment, I create pictorial spaces that reflect a deep distress and longing for sanctuary.
