Jacqueline Bell Johnson

I use craft processes and found objects. These works grow organically from sculpture to installation/monumental scale. The works speak to skilled and unskilled labor, hi/lo in materials, access, and audience and often reference art history and contemporary politics. My work is a feminist statement of taking up space, and permissing myself to take up space in the public arena. Recently my practice has incorporated mixed media works on paper that serve as spatial sketches, and digital photography that examined the other-worldliness of surfaces.
