Everyday activities, struggles and diversions, emotional depths and conflicts of life are distilled in freeze-like paintings. Highly abstracted figures frozen mid- sentence, mid-action, mid-transformation employ a spare palette, active brushwork, and open space for a composition of interior experience. In parallel, drawings explore a parade glimpsed as in passing. Concentrations of marks seem to dissolve as quickly as recognized. Mixing materials, the hand mirrors a fleeting connection, aware of the ephemeral nature of knowing. Having studied, taught, and exhibited in California and Europe, Wurm bridges language with visual reflection.
