Joy Ray

Joy Ray transforms the apocalyptic energies and anxieties of contemporary culture into abstract textile-based paintings that invoke haunting artifacts from a lost civilization. Her work is defined by a bold, minimalist palette and richly textured materials including twine, wool and sand. Ray studied art at Sarah Lawrence College, in New York and Italy. She lives and works in Hawai’i and Los Angeles, and exhibits her work internationally.
