Strength/vulnerability are layered in my sculptures, cast and altered ceramic torsos with 6 columns. Carved holes in the clay torso invites the viewer to peer into the body structure. To see hidden glaze-painted images on the inner surfaces of the columns. Oceans are the lifeblood of the Earth-body and it is the woman’s body that carries and births human life, yet both are exposed to collective abuse. This dichotomy of vulnerability and power shared by the ocean body and women’s bodies intrigues and overwhelms me.
