Kate McConnell

I am a visual artist who lives and works in Washington, DC and Provincetown, MA. Currently, I paint natural elements and spaces that awe and motivate me. I have a steadfast and deep connection to the outdoors and a great concern for our shifting climate. I like to begin by working outdoors. In the studio, I reinterpret these outdoor impressions and evaluate the emotional content of what I recall or imagine; the power of a place. Trees remain a powerful and favored subject of mine. I am fascinated by their gestural and calligraphic forms, evocative of human gesture and spirit. They have presence; a life force of their own.
