I believe intensely in the power of abstraction to conjure myth and magic. My work uses craft processes to comment on gender. Using felt, cable and plywood, my materials and fabrication techniques are tied to forms of women’s work –weaving, bundling, wrapping and binding; processes of displacement and concealment rooted in repetitive labor. What I do is to move past the old-fashioned question of what an artwork might be “about” or “represent” by simply focusing on what my work does, what I can make it do – just simply let the art work.
