Martina Sestakova

I am a textile designer and an abstract watercolorist. I use my artworks in fabrics filled with stories of inspiration. Storytelling as a community building tool fascinates me. My scarves are featured at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. My design practice intertwines with watercolors on yupo. In my series, “Visual Insights into Life’s Beauty,” I explore words (as components of stories) and their associated meanings through colors, shapes, and textures. I am inspired by poetry, for instance, works by Mary Oliver. My artistic practice fills me up with joy and gives me an opportunity to connect with others.
