My work is concerned with the growth and form of the natural world and it’s relationship to the narrative of human experience. I am interested in the processes of composition, transformation, and eventual decomposition of all living things, and the aesthetic similarities of these processes in Nature. This piece, “Accretion” refers to both the build-up of layers of knowledge over a period of time, but also the coming together of matter under the influence of various forces and ideas. The individual parts were inspired by the fossil record of Southern California as well as occurrence of bell weather species that indicate climate change.
