Monica Furmanski

Furmanski’s work explores the conspicuous elements in a photograph that do not exist in the material world. In her work, she starts with a photograph, providing the minimal amount of visual information to the viewer, by diluting and distilling the image. Furmanski’s work can be seen as a revival of how we consider the photographic image, particularly within the context of digital media. Her work engages viewer/image relationship and extends the possibilities of photography beyond its traditional application.
