My sculptures evolved out of an interest in the tantric practices of the Hindu Goddess Kali, Japanese temple stone sculptures, archaic concepts such as animism, and organic forms derived from my own abstract paintings. Through an elaborate process of mold-making and wax construction, what started as trash or detritus is transformed into quasi-mythological humans and animals, then cast in resin or bronze. I am interested in ritualizing the object; my sculptures are meant to be an amalgam of time and cultures (Oceanic, Asian, Tribal, etc.) that in their familiarity are part of our collected unconscious.
