Nancy Kay Turner

I am a visual artist/critic/and founder of the Hana Kark collective. My work involves collecting/archiving ephemera and fractured artifacts that while unmoored from their owners still bear the weight of history and culture. The work mediates between past/present/future by incorporating the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life in new ways. This layering of visual clues, text, surface pattern creates juxtapositions that suggest rebirth /reincarnation and the joy of second chances. My work which embraces chance and randomness is autobiographical, dealing with my obsessions, fears and anxieties while attempting to reconcile opposites.
