Renée Petropoulos

I chose this work, an older work, as i feel it can embody many of my thoughts as an artist. The use of abstraction as a material, the physical embodiment of movement, the narrative(s) via spoken word and sound, arranged seating for viewing & listening: these are characteristic of my work as a whole. Being an artist is a political act, one that employs what i call, poetry as representation. Using language in all of its forms to devise a way of ‘seeing’.
