I process the thoughts and concerns of adulthood with the language of a child: cartoon girls; aliens and ghosts; fantastical creatures and dogs; portals and playhouses; flowers, gentle hands, and bob haircuts. These are among a growing library of images I reuse across pieces about protection and fear, intimacy and loneliness, family and death, and everything we worry about before we fall asleep.
