Susan Silas is a visual artist. A significant body of her work, through self-portraiture, is an exploration and ongoing exchange with the evolution of our understanding of the self. She is interested in: the aging body, its representation, in gender roles, and in the potential outcomes of the creation of idealized selves through modern bio-technologies. Silas’s work was recently included in exhibitions at Stadgalerie Saarbrücken, in Germany, at Haus N Athen, in Greece and at bitforms gallery, in New York and featured in AntiUtopias, Camera Austria, Fotómúvészet, Artnet magazine and Hyperallergic.
