I work between drawing, sculpture, painting, video, photography and installation. A gestation period with materials creates familiarity and trust. I use tape, mylar, zippers, thread, fabric, cement, clay, carpet tufts, and stones creating tactile and temporal pieces. Dirt, unfired clay, rust, and flowers highlight the passage of time. A desire to reveal the overlooked drives my practice. I manipulate a material’s physical properties to reveal the core essence of an object, breathing life back into static, mass-produced items. The work serves as a repository of the process.
