My work addresses issues of sociopolitical content. Comments on migration, cultural/gender identity, translate into multimedia projects including video, performance-art, photography and drawing. As a Colombian/American and a resident of Washington, DC for 20 years, I use my bi-cultural identity to reveal realities and inner struggles through unsettling video, performances and installations. My work is also influenced by childhood memories and 16 years of experience as a teaching artist. Recent projects respond to my obsession with the color pink, an element that provides gratification transforming harsh realities into pleasing experiences.
