Elsie Kagan is a Brooklyn-based painter. Her visually dense, exuberant works merge divergent languages into conversation with a material-based abstraction. Recent solo shows include Brooklyn’s Shirley Project Space in 2024, following exhibitions in Mexico City, Brooklyn, and Hartford. Residencies and grants include R.A.R.O Madrid, the Vermont Studio Center, RU NYC, and Chautaqua; the NEA and the Sustainable Arts Foundation. She holds an MFA from Tyler School of Art and BA from Wesleyan. She is Founder and Director of Interlude Artist Residency, a non-profit supporting artist parents in Upstate New York.
