Irene Georgia Tsatsos

I work in interstitial spaces, in the rich lineage of women at kitchen tables, in domestic hauntings, in the zones of the body, in my lap and my palms. My media and I move in and out of time, spiraling through past and future lives. My materials retain traces of the bodies that produced them: family clothing, vintage textiles, hair from family members living and deceased. I recombine these into textile panels, clay works, and works on paper—fragments of stories. My work draws from ancestral histories and the landscape of dreams, where the psyche enacts what politics or society forbid expressing.
