Kathie Foley-Meyer

My work is frequently inspired by the history of African American life in Los Angeles and explores themes of interconnectedness, memory, visibility, and transparency. Over the past three years, my work as a visual artist and my writing and research in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Visual Studies have become intertwined threads connected to an expansive notion of blackness that references the ocean as a territory of witness, transition and an entity of memory.
