Painting for me is both a visual and spiritual practice. My paintings begin with observed imagery, often botanical forms, but are not attempts to represent the visible world. The work lies somewhere between recognition and abstraction, where memory, sensation, and imagination coexist. My iterative process is a contemplative practice that asks how abstraction might operate as a form of mysticism; a way of encountering aspects of experience that lie beyond immediate perception. I am aiming to create conditions for the viewer and myself in which seeing itself becomes transformative.
