Elana Mann is an artist and activist who explores the power of the collective voice, the embodiment of language, and deafness. Mann is Hard of Hearing and for twenty years she has researched the act of listening through sculpture, sound, works on paper, and public performances. Her artwork expose the act of listening to be a catalyst for social and environmental change. In Mann’s pieces listeners become performers, protests become musical, and music becomes form. Mann’s interdisciplinary art amplifies the ways sound can be liberatory and healing in a time of massive cultural, political and technological upheaval.
