Lisa C Soto is a visual artist based in Puerto Rico and Ghana. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Soto grew up in NY and a traditional village in the South of Spain. Her Caribbean heritage and continuous movements between continents and islands inform her motifs of transculturalism and diminishing borders. Soto creates interconnections through her, sculptures, installations, drawings, public art commissions and curatorial practice to tell her own story and highlight voices from the Caribbean, Africa and the diaspora. Her “Conversations By Artists For Artists” grew out of her L.A. studio practice and is being curated/continued by the California African American Museum.
