Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC
October 29, 2017 11:00 am
Featuring major works by artists Ja’Tovia Gary, Delphine Fawundu, and Dana Birnbaum, the Hirshhorn will host a day-long screening of video and film by feminist artists and filmmakers, from the 1970s to today. Part of a partnership with the National Museum for Women in the Arts, in conjunction with the Now Be Here project, Count/Recount celebrates women video artists who use narrative to complicate and deepen our understanding of representation, highlighting works by artists of varying generations and cultures who depict scenarios and ideas through the lens of feminism. The videos included were selected by Carmen Hermo, assistant curator, Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum.
